Idaho Building Capacity
The Idaho Building Capacity (IBC) project is a system of support for Idaho schools and districts in “needs improvement” status. IBC provides technical assistance to support schools and districts in their efforts to improve systems that increase student achievement. A rigorous school and district selection process is used to select schools serving a high percentage of at-risk students with limited local resources.
The Capacity Builders (CBs) are distinguished educators and education leaders who are trained to assist local educators and leaders. CBs are equipped with a toolkit of school improvement resources. In partnership with school and district leaders, CBs help create and implement a customized school improvement plan. CBs work collaboratively with educators to assess district and school needs, and to design and implement interventions based on educational research.
IBC is sponsored and directed by the Idaho State Department of Education. It is carried out statewide in partnership with Boise State University, Idaho State University and University of Idaho.
