Department of Natural Resources and Society
Why NRS? Because addressing environmental issues in the twenty-first century requires creative minds, an attitude of teamwork, and disciplinary and interdisciplinary expertise in the social and biophysical sciences.
What do we do? Our department’s integrative education, research and outreach programs prepare tomorrow’s decision makers to make a difference, as science pioneers, professional leaders and informed citizens. We create knowledge and share it broadly.
Who are we? We are leading edge researchers with current grants from the USGS, NASA, NSF, BLM, USDA and many other public and private entities pushing the boundaries of knowledge. We are award-winning educators who bring real world problems to the classroom, and bring the classroom to the real world. Our students, faculty and staff are based across three U of I campuses with programs that span from local communities to global issues. Join us!
