Employee Philanthropy
University of Idaho employees are generous with their time, talents and treasure.
From volunteering with our student during annual service days to supporting scholarships and programs to leading service trips at home and abroad, the University of Idaho is proud of our employees’ dedication to philanthropic activities.
U of I offers employees multiple ways to give back to our students, community and nation each year. Learn more about these programs below:
As a faculty or staff member, you have the unique opportunity to make a gift through payroll deduction. You can choose to designate your gift to a specific college, department or fund that is of interest to you. By signing up for payroll deduction you can give a little each pay period and have it add up to a significant amount by the end of the year. Employees can also make a one-time donation on the Annual Giving website. Learn more about giving to U of I at uidaho.edu/giving.
Student-athletes at the University of Idaho receive scholarships through the Vandal Scholarship Fund, the result of gifts from approximately 1,600 donors each year. The fund supports 206 scholarships to approximately 300 student-athletes. Gifts through the VSF cover about half of the cost of those scholarships. Learn more about VSF and donate online.
Each October, the University of Idaho participates in the Idaho State Employees’ Charitable Giving Campaign. The campaign raises funds for nonprofits across Idaho, with donations facilitated through local United Way offices. Employees can donate to any registered 501(c)3 organization via payroll deduction. Learn more about the campaign at unitedwecare.idaho.gov.
U of I’s Center for Volunteerism and Social Action offers students and employees multiple ways to give back each year, including the Serving Your New Community (SYNC) event held the Saturday before classes begin; Make a Difference Day each November; Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in January and Saturday of Service every April.
Employees are also welcome to participate in the Alternative Service Break program, with trips held during winter, spring and summer breaks, as well as new weekend trips.

The U&I Give project offers donors the chance to support specific projects around the university, such as student-led initiatives, endowment funds and events. Any U of I-affiliated group can submit a project idea. Learn more about active crowdfunding projects at uandigive.uidaho.edu/.
