Pre-Health Professions
The Pre-Health Professions Program at the University of Idaho serves as a resource for current students and alumni from all majors who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.
"Pre-Health" is not a specific major or academic track. It is a personal and professional development path that students pursue alongside completion of their degree requirements. Our program assists students with career and degree exploration, prerequisite course sequencing, obtaining necessary clinical and shadowing experience, preparing to take professional school entrance exams, and guidance with the application and interview process.
Students who join the University of Idaho Pre-Health Professions Program are also encouraged to
- Meet with a pre-health professions advisor each semester
- Regularly attend Pre-Health Professions Program events
- Take BIOL 151 Intro to Health Professions
Those interested in seeking higher achievement opportunities should join the Pre-Health Preparedness Initiative, which provides students with additional skills and experiences that will enhance their preparedness for health professions graduate programs. For more information, please contact pre-health@uidaho.edu.
The University of Idaho does offer a minor in Pre-Health Professions Studies which includes coursework that most health professions schools will expect applicants to have completed prior to admission. Requirements do vary between programs; therefore, students should be certain to check specific requirements at their schools of most interest.
