Required Safety Program: AlcoholEdu and SAP-U

At University of Idaho, we all play a role in creating a safer and healthier campus community and supporting our Vandal family. The first semester on any college campus presents risks for new students when it comes to substance abuse and sexual assault. Knowing how to navigate challenging situations is key to student success and safety. Therefore, we believe it is necessary for students to complete these important online required safety programs.

For Fall 2024, all first-year, undergraduate U of I students under the age of 24 are required to complete these safety programs before Sept. 6.

For Spring 2025, all first-year, undergraduate U of I students under the age of 24 are required to complete these safety programs before Jan. 31, 2025

About the Program

The required safety program is comprised of two separate online courses: AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (SAP-U). To meet the requirement, you must complete both courses by the due date.

For students starting Fall 2024:

  • The assignment will be available in early August.
  • If you don't meet the Sept. 6 completion deadline you will receive a registration hold on your student account. This will prevent you from registering for Spring 2025 and future semesters.

For students starting Spring 2025:

  • The assignment will be available in early January.
  • If you don't meet the Jan. 31, 2025 completion deadline you will receive a registration hold on your student account. This will prevent you from registering for Summer and Fall 2025.

Yes, and approximately 20% of U of I students choose not to drink, so you are not alone in your choice. Whether you choose to drink or not, you will likely encounter alcohol at some point during your time at University of Idaho in some way or another. It is important that all students understand the impact of alcohol on individuals as well as our Vandal family in order to foster a safe, healthy and welcoming community.
