Jim previously managed the breeding research program’s field trials, regional variety trials and its oilseed quality laboratory. He currently works part time assisting in all areas of the research program.

Jim is an Idaho native and University of Idaho alumnus. He grew up on a small beef cattle ranch near Grangeville, Idaho. Jim has worked for the University Idaho Canola, Rapeseed and Mustard Program for 30 years as of 2023 and has 34 years of experience working with canola and related crops. Jim has also worked with a handful of other crops including Austrian winter peas and barley.
