Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial

Through hard times, our community has found strength by leaning on other Vandals for support. Our mutual experiences and shared values have reinforced our bonds as more than just a student body but rather as a family that demonstrates our humility and care for one another. The Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial is an embodiment of that bond, empowering each user to engage in their own personal rituals of remembrance.

The Idaho Design Build studio collaborated with the University and our community to design, detail, and construct the Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial over the course of the 2023-2024 school year. Built by Vandals for Vandals and the community alike, the garden incorporates intimate and shared moments of reflection and interaction that evoke a sense of security, foster hope, and provide a place that has a lasting presence on campus.
