Advancing Agriculture

Learn to apply statistical and mathematical analysis to understand and provide recommendations on how to solve complex issues involving agriculture, communities and natural resources. Students conduct applied research on a variety of projects to develop specialized skills in microeconomics for real-world use.

We offer Idaho’s only graduate degree program in economics. The master’s in applied economics is offered cooperatively with Washington State University, with courses taught by faculty from both universities.

A master’s in applied economics from the U of I prepares graduates for careers in industry, government and public sectors, or for further studies in leading doctorate programs. The program is designed to help students develop the analytical and decision-making skills needed for management, production, marketing, policy making and consulting careers or for pursuit of a doctorate.
