Extension and Outreach

The Rural Studies Program (RSP) brings the knowledge and research of University of Idaho to a broader audience of community members, elected officials and practitioners to help broaden their perspectives and their sense of the possibilities before them. The RSP devotes its resources and efforts to ensure that rural residents are prepared to lead and thrive in today’s economy and to ensuring that they know how to generate the right economic and social conditions to keep their communities blooming.

Our scholars develop online training materials that make essential research-based knowledge available, understandable and relevant to a diversity of stakeholders and provide the tools needed to implement such knowledge in rural communities. The RSP also produces policy briefs for stakeholders, synthesizing relevant research results and situating them in the context of Idaho.
