Operation Education is a scholarship program designed to help veterans with permanent disabilities or their spouses who seek to attain a degree at the University of Idaho.

Students looking to apply for the Operation Education Scholarship Program must be an honorably separated U.S. military veteran from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Reserves or National Guard, or a spouse of such a veteran. The veteran must have a service connected injury caused or aggravated by military service after September 11, 2001, and as a result of that injury, have a disability that severely impacts function of one or more major life activities. The veteran or spouse also must meet the requirements for admission to the University of Idaho as a degree-seeking student.

Yes. If you are the spouse of an honorably separated U.S. military veteran who received a service connected injury after Sept. 11, 2001, and meet the requirements for admission to the University of Idaho as a degree-seeking student enrolled in full-time undergraduate, graduate or law classes, you may be eligible to receive support from the Operation Education Scholarship Program.

Operation Education provides financial assistance to supplement costs not otherwise covered, and academic and social support. Assistance may include direct educational costs such as fees, tuition and textbooks, on-campus housing support, transportation, adaptive equipment, medical assistance, child care, tutoring and accommodation services.

Operation Education was launched July 1, 2006. The first scholars were enrolled in January 2007.

Yes. There is the General James F. and Bonnie Amos Leadership Endowment and the Lt. Donald Frank Ware Memorial Scholarship, both of which are open to additional donations at any time.

In addition, contributions to the program in general can be earmarked for the scholarship fund or for the operations fund; in the absence of a specific designation, gifts will be added to the scholarship fund.

Yes, it does. Its members serve 2-year terms with a second-term succession provision.
