529 Plans
Each state has its own 529 plan. In addition, there are private 529 plans available through many banks, credit unions, and investment companies.
General information regarding 529 plans can be found on the IRS’s website.
The Idaho plan, IDEAL, and the Washington plan, WA GET, do not require an invoice from the University of Idaho. Instead, on the IDEAL or WA GET website, the plan holder requests an amount of money to be sent to the University of Idaho. Please be sure to provide the 529 plan with the student’s full name and University of Idaho ID number, which can be found on student’s VandalCard. Please allow two weeks from the time you make the request for the check to be processed by the University.
States that do require an invoice will send an authorization letter to the university once the student or plan holder notifies their 529 plan that the student will be attending. Please be sure to provide the 529 plan with the student’s full name and University of Idaho ID number, which can be found on student’s VandalCard.
