Associated Students University of Idaho (ASUI)
ASUI is the official student government at University of Idaho. Our mission is to advocate for the interests of all enrolled students to university leadership, the Idaho State Board of Education and even the Idaho Legislature. We also provide funding for student organizations and empower Vandals across disciplines to become engaged leaders shaping a better future for Idaho and beyond.
What is ASUI?
Founded in 1904, ASUI serves as the unified voice of undergraduate students at University of Idaho. All currently enrolled undergraduate students are members of ASUI and are represented by elected leaders who work to enhance the student experience.
ASUI is structured into executive and legislative branches and is led by a president and vice president.
President: Serves as the primary liaison between ASUI, the student body and external stakeholders, including the State Board of Education. The president represents the student voice at the highest levels.
Vice President: Chairs the ASUI Senate and ensures that students living both on and off campus are fairly represented. The vice president also oversees internal operations and policy adherence within ASUI.
Executive branch: The executive branch supports students through specialized boards focused on funding, programming, recreation and more. It includes a presidential cabinet with directors of diversity affairs, health and wellness, sustainability, policy, safety and violence prevention, athletics, finance and communications.
Legislative branch: The ASUI Senate consists of 14 elected senators led by the Senate Pro Tempore. Each senator represents two to three student living groups and actively gathers feedback to bring forward legislation that addresses student needs. The Senate allocates student fees and passes resolutions on behalf of the student body.
