Confined Space Program

What we do

EHS evaluates and maintains an inventory of confined spaces at the University of Idaho; confined spaces are those large enough that employees can enter and perform assigned work, have limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and are not designed for continuous employee occupancy. We also provide necessary training in confined space entry and assistance in establishing area-specific entry programs.

A confined space that contains a physical or chemical hazard has additional procedures that must be followed.

What you need to do

All employees expected to work within a confined space must receive Confined Space Entry training before they may work in or enter a confined space. Supervisors are responsible for maintaining the Confined Space Entry program in their areas and ensuring the employees required to enter confined spaces have the proper training.
