Fall Protection Courses
Fall Protection (Competent Person)
Employees who complete this training must also complete the Fall Protection Operations course.
When standard guardrails or similar barriers are not already in place to prevent workers from being exposed to falls of six feet or more, effective fall protection systems that will safely arrest a fall, should one occur, must be in place and employees must be trained and required to use them before they are allowed to work in these areas. In addition to providing employees with an explanation of applicable regulatory and policy requirements, this training presents information they can use to competently assess fall hazards, ensure appropriate fall arrest and restraint systems are available and installed properly, and to effectively monitor workers and the work area when these systems and equipment are being used.
This course is presented by EHS and is required for employees who are responsible for recommending the purchase, designing, and/or directing the installation of fall arrest and restraint systems or directly supervising and/or monitoring their use.
Fall Protection (Operations)
This course provides employees with information on procedures that must be followed and hands-on training in the application, use, and limitations of fall protection equipment. Fall protection must be used when working in areas where standard guardrails or similar barriers are not already in place to prevent them from being exposed to falls of six feet or more.
Employees who, under the direction of a competent person, are required to use fall arrest and restraint equipment and systems are required to be provided this training by EHS or their supervisor.
