The program explores the latest methods, techniques and instructional tools used in today’s technology classrooms. Learn to teach technical skills and hands-on experiences in subjects ranging from electronics and microcomputers; to web design and computer aided drafting; to engineering and manufacturing systems.
Fast Facts
- After getting an associate’s degree in business, engineering/technology or technical area from a Technical or Community College, spend two years at U of I to earn bachelor's degree.
- Receive an Idaho endorsement to teach business, engineering and technology at middle and high schools.

Teaching Agriculture's Next Leaders
Teach the next generation of agricultural leaders in grades 6-12 as an agricultural educator. Explore teaching methods, learn how to plan a curriculum, manage a classroom, and supervise out-of-classroom learning programs. Experience hands-on learning opportunities with local teachers and at on-campus animal centers, greenhouses and plant sciences farms.

- U of I is the only agriculture teacher preparation program in Idaho.
- Assist high school students with FFA activities.
- Become a licensed secondary agriculture teacher.
- Access computer-controlled greenhouses, plant science farms and animal centers.
- Gain experience as a student teacher in Idaho, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California or Alaska.
Learn Best Business Practices
The business and marketing education program focuses on the core areas of business critical to the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for success in the workforce. As a student in the program, you will develop a well-rounded business knowledge, with courses in management, marketing finance, accounting and computer technology. You will learn how to examine and teach business-related subjects from a variety of perspectives.

- With this option students may apply for Idaho secondary teacher certification with endorsements in business technology, marketing technology, and usually economics (based on selected electives)

Teach Life Literacy
The family and consumer sciences education option is for students interested in teaching family and consumer sciences subjects at the high school or post-secondary level.
Content areas include:
- Early Childhood Development
- Food and Nutrition
- Apparel and Textiles
- Interior Design and Housing
- Personal Finance
- Consumer Management
Completion of this option qualifies you for an Idaho secondary teaching certificate (6-12) in family and consumer sciences and usually economics, health and science (based on selected electives).

Professional Technical
For those interested in teaching the technical sciences involved with trade and industry. The program serves teachers in secondary education and industrial programs, as well as those with relevant work experience, who wish to teach in post-secondary career and technical education programs.
