Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Our Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) degree provides students with the theory and practice necessary to teach English as another language.

Our TESOL majors learn pedagogy and practice to prepare them to be teachers and leaders in English as a second or foreign language (TESOL) contexts. Students in the TESOL program will apply findings from linguistics to the teaching of English as a second language and explore the processes of language acquisition and development using current theories and methods in the field. Through course work and practicum opportunities students will gain experience in creating teaching and learning materials, designing and implementing appropriate assessment tools and strategies to evaluate student learning, and delivering appropriate instruction to K-adult learners who are culturally and linguistically diverse.

Graduates of the MA TESOL Program are prepared to teach English language learners of all ages around the globe, while developing the necessary skills and knowledge for professional development in the TESOL field.
