Before you are enrolled in a degree program that leads to teacher certification, and considering to take the steps leading toward becoming a teacher is who we consider a potential teacher candidate. Above are links to the degree program information and steps that outline the basic process of becoming a teacher. Researching this type of information is the precursor to taking steps, or Step 0.
In general if you have no college completed, one of our B.S. degrees (undergraduate) is a good start to becoming a certified teacher. If you have some college or a degree already, a good place to start is our Secondary Education M.A.T. where you can use your current coursework as a stepping stone towards a master's degree to teach your subject to middle or high school students. Some students are seeking teacher certification only, or adding a teaching endorsement, which we also offer.
