EXPO Engineering the Future: VIP Experience
High school students 9th through 12th grade are invited to participate in an all-expenses-paid trip to our Moscow campus to engage with current Vandal engineering and computer science student ambassadors, networking with industry professionals and experience life as a Vandal engineer! Students must apply and be selected to participate.
Technical Presentations via Zoom
2-5:30 p.m. PT
Engineering Design EXPO capstone teams of all disciplines will present their industry sponsored projects during technical presentations held via Zoom. Sessions are open to the public.

EXPO Engineering the Future: K-12 Classroom and Individual Participation
In addition to the EXPO VIP Experience, the EXPO Engineering the Future program welcomes K-12 and community college students, teachers, educators and parents to explore interactive student projects in the college’s Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Program, ranked top seven in the nation for infusing real-world experiences into engineering education.
Educators can register their classrooms, and individuals and groups in the community are invited to attend. Travel stipends are available for all participants.

Explore innovative and interactive projects that push the boundaries of science and technology and learn how U of I students are working together to solve real-world problems.
Students present projects from the college’s Interdisciplinary Senior Capstone Design Program, ranked top seven in the nation for infusing real-world experiences into undergraduate engineering education by the National Academy of Engineering.
Students work in interdisciplinary teams on creative projects sponsored by industry partners, private individuals or U of I departments. Courses in the program emphasize the design process and the creation of a thoughtfully engineered, tested and validated outcome or prototype.

David Whitehead was recently named president of global energy protection leader Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. With 30 years of experience, Dave started his SEL career as a hardware engineer. David will share his personal and professional story of inspiration and teamwork working alongside SEL-founder Edmund O. Schweitzer and innovative minds at SEL to build systems that protect, automate, and control energy infrastructure around the world.

Invent Idaho State Finals Public Showroom
3-5 p.m. PT
Integrated Research and Innovation Center (IRIC), Moscow Campus
Explore inventions and entrepreneurial projects from 150 young Idaho inventors during Invent Idaho, one of the leading informal invention learning programs in the United States and a founding member of the Invention Convention Worldwide! This event is free and open to the public.
Invent Idaho State Finals Presentations to Judges
6-8 p.m. PT
Integrated Research and Innovation Center (IRIC), Moscow Campus
This year, the College of Engineering is partnering with Idaho’s leading innovation and entrepreneurial learning nonprofit Invent Idaho to deliver opportunities to young inventors across Idaho! State finalists grades first through 12th will be presenting their entrepreneurial projects and inventions on campus following EXPO.
