Agriculture
The 2012 Census of Agriculture listed 186 farms in Blaine County and a total of 179,130 acres of farm land. The market value of products sold is $38.5 million. The major commodities grown are alfalfa, malting barley and seed potatoes.
A large part of the alfalfa grown in Blaine County is organic. Alfalfa is often used for dairies or sold out of state. Malting barley is grown under contracts with many companies, including Miller-Coors, Anheuser-Busch, Negra Modelo and open-market venues.
