A. General. Members of the UI faculty and staff may collect money from students only under special circumstances and when specifically authorized to do so by the financial vice president or his/her designee. For example, a faculty or staff member in charge of a course being offered off-campus may be designated as an agent of the bursar for collection of fees and other UI charges and for sales of books and other instructional materials.
B. Procedure. Depositing Funds. Funds received in such cases should be transmitted directly to the cashier in Business Systems and Accounting Services [See 20.06] or other appropriate UI agency. Under no circumstances may a faculty or staff member realize any personal gain or special remuneration through such transactions. [ed. 7-10]
