Parking citations at University of Idaho

Parking enforcement ensures a safe, organized parking system for all students, employees and visitors. Citations help maintain access for permit holders and discourage unauthorized parking.

Paying a parking ticket

Tickets issued to vehicles with a U of I parking permit

• You can pay online through AIMS using Discover, MasterCard or Visa. Be sure to have your ticket number and license plate or VIN handy before making a payment.
• Alternately, you can pay in person at the Parking Office (Intermodal Transit Center, 1006 Railroad St.). Cash accepted, no loose coins.
• Payment by mail is also accepted. Send a check payable to U of I Bursar at 875 Perimeter Drive, MS 4106, Moscow, ID 83844-4106.
• Three times each year (Oct. 15, March 15 and June 15), any remaining unpaid tickets are transferred to the ticket-holder’s university account. Once transferred, these tickets must be paid through MyUI.

Tickets issued to vehicles that are unknown to Parking and Transportation Services

• Tickets issued to an unknown vehicle are assigned to the vehicle’s registered owner, with a $15 DMV discovery fee applied
• Payment options for unknown vehicles:
  • Online through AIMS
  • Mail: Send a check payable to U of I Bursar at 875 Perimeter Drive, MS 4106, Moscow, ID 83844-4106
  • Call 208-885-6424 to make a credit or debit card payment, Monday through Friday:
    • 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (during academic breaks)
  • Pay in person at the Parking Office (Intermodal Transit Center, 1006 Railroad St.). Cash accepted, no loose coins.

Unpaid citations

Failure to pay a citation may result in:

• Holds on university accounts (blocking class registration or diploma release).
• Vehicle immobilization (booting) or impoundment.
• Revocation of current permits and ineligibility for future permits.
• Referral to collections.

Appealing a citation

If you believe a citation was issued in error or extenuating circumstances apply, you may appeal within 15 days of issuance. Appeals must include substantial evidence, such as medical documentation, repair receipts or photos.

Invalid reasons for appeals

• Running late for class or a meeting.
• Not seeing a sign or misunderstanding parking rules.
• Parking for “just a few minutes.”

Appeal process

• Submit an appeal online through PTS online services.
• Appeals are reviewed by the Parking Committee, which meets monthly.
• The committee may approve, partially approve or deny appeals.
• If denied, you may submit a second appeal by email to parking@uidaho.edu within 15 days. The second appeal must include new information that was not part of the original appeal or it will not be considered for a second appeal.
• A third and final appeal may be submitted for review by the Associate Vice President, Operations, in the Division of Finance and Administration.
• Students unsatisfied with the university’s final decision may appeal to the State Board of Education.

Pay with donations: Food for Fines

Reduce your parking fines while supporting the Vandal Food Pantry and local food banks. This option is available from Nov. 3 through Dec. 19, 2025. Dates for eligible citations are up to two citations dated between May 10 through Nov. 2, 2025 and up to one citation dated between Nov. 3 through Dec. 19, 2025. Eligible citations include:

• $25 meter citations
• $30 permit citations
• $30 overnight citations

How it works:

• Donate items based on a BINGO card system. Select your BINGO card.
• One citation can be paid with donations per timeframe.
• Bring donations to Parking and Transportation Services.

Important notes:

• Food must be within expiration dates and in intact packaging.
• Only regular-sized products (no sample, mini or travel sizes) are accepted.
• Your donations must match the items on your BINGO card.
