Study Abroad
Study abroad programs provide you an invaluable opportunity to learn more about international law, legal guidelines in other countries, and get an international and comparative perspective on your home country's laws and government. This fresh prospective might help you to become a better lawyer while also giving you the chance to learn how to communicate with people from other cultures and backgrounds.
Over a hundred ABA-accredited law schools offer summer and intersession study abroad programs. Students considering study abroad should act early to meet deadlines for the law schools offering the programs. Students participating in study abroad must also work with the University of Idaho International Programs Office in addition to fulfilling College of Law requirements. All aspects of study abroad participation are discussed in the College of Law Catalog and Law Student Handbook.
Affiliate Status with Gonzaga’s Florence Summer Law Program
In 2017, the University of Idaho College of Law became an affiliate school to Gonzaga’s Florence Summer Law Program. This affiliation provides U of I law students automatic permission to participate in the program. The program is delivered at the Gonzaga in Florence campus located in the heart of the University District of Florence, the cultural and historical center of the city. Steeped in the commitment to global justice and the connections between the interdependent systems of international law, the Florence Summer Law Program provides students the opportunity to study human rights topics from an international and comparative perspective. The Florence Summer Law Program begins each year shortly after final exams in May and lasts through most of June.
