Application Instructions

The University of Idaho College of Law requires electronic applications via the LSAC Online Services website. The application is available after Labor Day each year. Begin your application to Idaho Law through the LSAC site here.

Application Fee Waived Through January 15, 2025

Priority Deadline for Scholarship Consideration February 15, 2025

*Completed applications submitted on or before February 15 are deemed a priority and reviewed on a rolling basis. Priority applications will be considered first for scholarship awards and location preference as available.

Applications Accepted Through June 30, 2025

*Scholarship and location preference, while limited, will be awarded and granted if available.

To be considered for admission, applicants must register with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) Credential Assembly Service (CAS), take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), and have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Idaho Law highly recommends students take the LSAT at least by the summer or fall prior to the year they wish to enter law school. Idaho Law accepts applications from potential full-time students who intend to enroll in the fall semester only.

All of the following must accompany the Application for Admission:

  • Law School Admissions Test (LSAT)
  • Law School Admission Council Credential Assembly Service (CAS) Report
  • Résumé – not to exceed two pages
  • Personal statement – not to exceed two pages, double spaced
  • Letters of Recommendation – at least two, will accept up to three
  • Detailed addendum if any question on the Character and Fitness section is answered "Yes"

We accept transfer student applications from ABA- and non-ABA-accredited law schools. Applicants from non-ABA-accredited law schools must meet the requirements of ABA Standard 505 (Refer to Chapter 5: Admissions and Student Services).

Requirements:

All of the following must accompany the Application for Transfer Admission:

  • Essay explaining why you wish to transfer to the University of Idaho College of Law – no more than two pages; double spaced; 12 point Times New Roman font; one-inch top, bottom, left and right margins
  • Letter of Standing from current law school indicating eligibility to return, GPA and class rank
  • Official Transcript from current law school
  • Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report
  • Detailed addendum of explanation if any question on the Character and Fitness section is answered “Yes”

We only accept visiting students from ABA-accredited schools who are in the top 50% of their class.

Priority: Rolling Based on Desired Enrollment Term

Requirements

All of the following must accompany the Application for Visiting Admissions:

  • Non-refundable $50 application fee
  • Essay explaining why you wish to visit the University of Idaho College of Law – no more than two pages; double spaced; 12 point Times New Roman font; with one-inch top, bottom, left and right margins
  • Letter of Standing from current law school indicating eligibility to return, GPA and class ranking
  • Official Transcript from current law school
  • Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report
  • Detailed addendum of explanation if any question on the Character and Fitness section is answered “Yes”

  • Unique Perspectives Statement expanding on any circumstance(s) or factor(s) in your application and how they affected your life

All applicants may check the status of their application online. Upon completion of an applicant’s file, the Admissions Office will send him or her a “Notification of Complete Application Email” containing the applicant’s username and password for checking application status.

Please note that when you check your status the screen will display your file all the way up to and including the final admission decision (e.g., whether you have been admitted, placed in the standby pool, or denied).
