Geoffrey Heeren is a Professor of Law and the Director of the Immigration Litigation and Appellate Clinic. Before joining the University of Idaho, he was a professor at Valparaiso University Law School, where he founded and directed the Immigration Law Clinic—supervising students who represented clients in immigration court and argued circuit court appeals. Previously, he was a clinical teaching fellow at Georgetown Law. He first practiced immigration law at Legal Aid Chicago, where he handled direct representation of immigrants in detention, federal appellate work, and affirmative civil rights litigation. While working as a legal aid attorney in Chicago, he also taught asylum law as a lecturer at the University of Chicago. He received his JD from New York University School of Law.
