Update on OIT’s Telephone Transition

April 04, 2023

OIT is working on two telephone service projects: eliminating unused phone lines and transitioning communications to Teams Voice. If OIT identifies your line as one with limited to no use over the last year, you will receive an email ticket notification with instructions, options for communications without a phone line, and an opportunity to explain why the phone line is still required. Eliminating unneeded lines will save money and streamline communications.

The second project is the university’s transition from the current phone system to Teams Voice. This project is in a pilot phase. During the pilot phase, OIT and a limited number of individuals are transitioning to Teams Voice. Additional testing is taking place and, upon conclusion, a migration plan schedule will be created and communicated to the university. There will be opportunities to discuss your telephone needs before any migrations occur. Additional information on this project is available in the March 9 email to university employees from Dan Ewart.

Thank you for your help as we complete these projects. Visit the project’s FAQ page for more information or email Jason Swanby. If you have questions about emails concerning a potential shutoff of your phone line, reply in the ticket email with your concerns. If you no longer make or receive outside calls, submit a ticket to have your phone line disconnected.
