Idaho Water Resources Research Institute Moves to Coeur d'Alene

April 13, 2023

U of I is announcing changes to the Idaho Water Resources Research Institute (IWRRI) which will position the organization to serve Idaho for the coming decades. IWRRI is establishing new headquarters at U of I Coeur d’Alene under the oversight of Andrew Fields, the center’s CEO. Future expansion plans include a significant presence at the Boise Center.

This relocation will position IWRRI for its critical role in building relationships and networks throughout the state and nation. IWRRI will use those networks to develop and deliver impactful, actionable knowledge concerning Idaho Water Resources. IWRRI will remain strongly connected to Moscow and all areas of the state.

The U of I Coeur d’Alene Center and IWRRI will immediately begin a search for a new managing director to lead the organization through these changes. The managing director will be an experienced subject matter expert in some area of water science, technology, policy or law, and will be responsible for organizing an impactful portfolio of activities supported by a broad range of stakeholders.

IWRRI was established by the American Water Resources Research Act of 1964 as one of the National Institutes for Water Resources. It is housed at U of I and is a designated Research Institute. IWRRI collaborates with water researchers, colleges and universities throughout the state, nation and world.
