University of Idaho to Hold Open Theatre Auditions for ‘Orlando’ Jan. 13
January 10, 2024
MOSCOW, Idaho — Auditions for the University of Idaho’s 2024 spring theatre production, “Orlando” by Virginia Woolf, adapted by Sarah Ruhl, will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Hartung Theater, 625 Stadium Drive, Moscow. Auditions are in-person and are open to anyone with an interest in live theatre, including members of the Palouse community.
Those auditioning should prepare two contrasting monologues not exceeding two and a half minutes. If you do not have two contrasting monologues, a one-minute contemporary monologue will suffice. If you do not have a monologue, one will be provided to you at check-in. View full details and sign-up.
Directing “Orlando” is Blake Watson, a Master of Fine Arts candidate in the Department of Theatre Arts.
“Orlando” is about a young Elizabethan nobleman who is taken under the wing of an aging Queen Elizabeth I. From there he has many lovers, has his heart broken and, after several centuries without aging, wakes up as a woman. “Orlando” tackles the complex topics of gender, love, romance, adventure and what it means to be a man, woman or neither.
