University of Idaho sees eighth consecutive semester of enrollment growth

MOSCOW, Idaho — The Spring 2025 enrollment is the largest spring enrollment in the history of University of Idaho. Overall student enrollment for Spring 2025 is 11,886 students, up 4.2% from the Spring 2024 enrollment of 11,408 students. This increase marks the eighth consecutive semester of enrollment growth at U of I with a 22.1% growth during that same period.

Undergraduate enrollment is 7,123, up 4.6% over enrollment of 6,807 in Spring 2024. Total enrollment — excluding dual credit high school students enrolled in college courses — is up 4.2% to 9,847 students.

Other highlights include:

  • Idaho resident undergraduate student enrollment is up 5.1%.
  • Non-resident undergraduate student enrollment is up 12%.
  • International undergraduate student enrollment is up 23.4%.

For the fifth year in a row, U of I is ranked as the #1 Best Value Public University in the West by U.S. News and World Report and is second in the nation behind University of North Carolina.

R1 status and graduate student enrollment   
U of I achieved R1 Carnegie Classification earlier this spring and is the only university in the state to reach that research level. R1 status is important to attracting and engaging graduate students. New first-time graduate students are up 5.9% over Spring 2024. Total graduate student enrollment is 1,947, up 2.4% from 1,901 students in Spring 2024. Doctoral student enrollment is 583, up 8.4% over Spring 2024.

Law
The College of Law is up 8.7% with 449 students enrolled compared to 413 last year.
