INSTEP

Indigenous Nation Scholars Training for Excellence Program (INSTEP) is a dynamic student retention and tribal leadership initiative offered by the Native American Student Center. This program allows you to enrich your University of Idaho experience by blending your cultural knowledge and skills with your academic journey. Through specialized courses designed to bridge gaps, enhance learning and support academic progress, INSTEP prepares you to become a leader in your tribal community. It equips you with the tools to go beyond your degree program, empowering you to make a lasting and meaningful impact.

Tribal Nations

Tribal Nations is a program where University of Idaho Native students lead youth college-prep activities and cultural events. It includes showcasing cultural exhibitions during halftime at select U of I Vandal athletic events, offering spectators a unique opportunity to experience and celebrate Indigenous traditions.

HOIST

Helping Orient Indian Students and Teachers into STEM (HOIST) is a summer college preparatory program hosted by the Native American Student Center (NASC) at the University of Idaho. This program is specifically designed for high school students from the 11 tribal reservations with Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the university. Each summer, approximately 15-20 Native American students who demonstrate potential in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) are selected to participate in this enriching experience.

Established to provide and advance quality education for and about American Indians of Idaho, the region and nation.
