Important Update: Transition to Four-Digit Course Numbers

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the academic experience and provide additional course numbering options, University of Idaho is transitioning from three-digit course numbers to a new four-digit system.

Why the change?

The transition to four-digit course numbers will:

  • Support future academic growth and departmental changes.
  • Allow for additional course number options and standard course numbers.

What you need to know

Students

  • Beginning Summer 2025, the class schedule will reflect the updated four-digit course numbers.
  • When registering for courses, look for the updated four-digit numbers in the catalog.
  • The change will not affect the course content, prerequisites or your academic requirements.
  • Degree audits have been updated to reflect the updated four-digit course numbers.

Employees

  • The change will apply to all existing and new courses in the catalog.
  • The new four-digit numbers will be assigned based on the course’s level and department.
  • The class schedule will need all sections manually rebuilt for one academic year in CourseLeaf CLSS, (Summer 2025 – Spring 2026). After one academic year has completed, the schedule roll process can resume.

Crosswalk: Find your new course numbers

Download the crosswalk to match current three-digit course numbers with their new four-digit counterparts. This tool will make it easier to transition and understand how your courses have been renumbered.
