The College of Science helps you take learning beyond the classroom. Use scholarships and fellowships to fund independent research, internships or education abroad. With funding designed for science majors, you can turn ideas into action and take your education to the next level.
Hill Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Through the generosity of Dr. Brian (chemistry, ‘65) and Gayle Hill, Hill Undergraduate Research Fellowships supports full-time undergraduates conducting research with a College of Science faculty mentor. Each award includes:
- $1,500 scholarship
- $2,000 research grant to fund your project
Hill Fellowships are awarded each fall and spring semester. These fellowships are typically funded for three consecutive semesters. with a typical timeline of funding spanning three semesters. Accelerated schedules may be approved case-by-case.
Eligibility: minimum 3.0 GPA and active collaboration with (or plans to work with) a College of Science faculty mentor.

Internships and Education Abroad - Support for real world experiences
Apply for competitive scholarships — up to $1,500 — to help offset the added costs of internships or education abroad. Awards can be used in either of the two semesters following your application.

College of Science Emergency Fund
Students experiencing unexpected financial challenges impacting their ability to continue their studies at the University of Idaho can apply for up to $500 from the College of Science Emergency Fund.

Additional financial support
Depending on your situation, additional campus support may be available. The Dean of Students Office (askjoe@uidaho.edu) or Student Financial Aid (finaid@uidaho.edu) may be able to help. You may also apply to the Bruce and Kathy Pitman Emergency Fund for help with unexpected expenses.
