What happens to a VandalCARE referral?
All VandalCARE referrals are submitted and stored through our secure software database. We utilize Advocate by Simplicity, a specific software that many colleges and universities use in their CARE and conduct processes. Only designated staff members have access to these referrals, and they are protected as a part of FERPA regulations. VandalCARE referrals are not noted in your transcripts or sent to other faculty or staff.
Once a VandalCARE referral is sent in, a case manager reviews the referral to determine what the best initial action would be for that situation. Sometimes this is an email or phone call to check in on the person, while other times it might be a meeting. Some referrals may be referred to the VandalCARE Team for help in coordinating outreach or resources.
