The past year at the University of Idaho was one I will never forget. The incredible experience of successfully running for president of the Associated Students of the University of Idaho (ASUI) taught me that dedication pays off, while demonstrating how special our university community is.

Education at U of I is not only preparing me for a career, it's also providing wisdom to succeed in life. As a double major in political science and philosophy, a fraternity brother and a student leader, I've had the opportunity to take part in some amazing conversations and academic experiences, from student government to political clubs to the University of Idaho Pre-Law Society.

Since my first campus visit, the University of Idaho has been a second home. Professors are welcoming and friendly, and fellow students are always ready to discuss meaningful questions. Philosophy classes have changed the way I think so I can better analyze arguments and identify fallacies.

These skills will benefit me for a lifetime because after graduation, I plan to go to law school and ultimately work to strengthen my community. I have wanted to be an attorney since a job-shadow experience in high school with a mentor who taught me that the practice of law can be a noble profession when you place ethics first. I’m confident my U of I education is giving me the ethical foundation I need to make a positive difference in the world.

Awards like the Vandal Excellence and Sydney H. Duncombe scholarships have changed my life...

None of this would be possible without you. Whether you support scholarships, the U of I Library, President’s Excellence Fund, Arboretum or numerous other programs, your support makes a meaningful impact on our Vandal experience. Awards like the Vandal Excellence and Sydney H. Duncombe scholarships have changed my life and opened doors that I couldn’t unlock on my own. You have provided me, and countless other students like me, with the opportunity to fulfill our dreams of receiving an excellent education and building a meaningful life and profession. Thank you!

“Receiving scholarships meant being able to take my education into my own hands. I was able to use my skills as a student to support my education in ways I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do.”
