What is dual credit?

Dual credit lets you earn college and high school credits at the same time. If you have at least a 2.5 GPA, you can take college courses online, on campus or at your high school.

Why earn dual credit?

  • Save time: Earn transferable college credits.
  • Experience college: Gain confidence for future college success.
  • Learn from home: Take convenient, online courses.
  • Access campus resources: Enjoy access to U of I resources like academic advising, financial advising, Idaho’s largest library, online tutoring and more.

How dual credit works

Choose your classes: Take U of I courses at your high school, online or on a U of I campus. Courses are taught by approved instructors and U of I faculty and align with college-level standards.

Earn high school and college credit: Courses count for both your high school diploma and college transcript, helping you graduate ahead of the curve.

Transfer or apply to U of I: Dual credits apply toward a U of I degree or can be transferred to most other colleges and universities. Save syllabi and assignments to support credit transfer elsewhere.

Who can enroll in dual credit?

High school students with at least a 2.5 GPA who have approval from a guardian can enroll through DualEnroll.

Can I enroll if I’m under 16?

Students under the age of 16 may enroll in courses at their high school, online, or on a U of I campus by emailing us at dualcredit@uidaho.edu for the directions.
