Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access (IDEA)
Vision
The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences is a community where diversity is celebrated, and inclusion, equity and access are central in our pursuit of excellence.
Mission
The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences is dedicated to providing a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment as we fulfill our land grant mission. We strive to fulfill our vision through the rigorous preparation and support of our community of students, faculty, staff and the people of Idaho to navigate productive pathways for a better future.
Values
Teamwork — Our programs reflect the university’s land grant mission. Through a federal/state partnership with the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station and UI Extension, we strive for excellence in academics, research and engagement.
Respect and care — We insist on a culture of respect and recognize that words and actions matter. We value inclusion, diversity, equity and access for our faculty, staff and students. We encourage civil and respectful expression of ideas and opinions, recognizing that our differences make us stronger.
Responsibility — We all share in the responsibility to create a positive culture and to support inclusion, dignity and respect. We are role models for others, and we take action when we observe unfair or demeaning behavior.
Goals
Our level of success as a college depends on how well we reflect the diverse qualities and experiences of those groups included within our community.
- Identify, attract, retain, educate and graduate a diverse student body.
- Identify, attract, retain and provide professional development to a diverse faculty and staff.
- Ensure accountability to equity, diversity and inclusion efforts at CALS locations both on and off campus and in serving communities.
