Residential Programs
"The group dynamics, application of science in the outdoors, and appreciation of local resources are unrivaled in K-12 education in Idaho."
- White Pine Elementary Chaperone, 2018
Operating in the fall, winter, and spring, MOSS K12 Residential Programs provide an unforgettable learning experience for 4th-12th grade public, private, charter and homeschool students. Throughout these 4-5 day programs, students, teachers, and chaperones live in residence at the University of Idaho McCall Field Campus in McCall, ID and participate in MOSS programming. Participants sleep in rustic bunkhouses and eat delicious meals in our historic Dining Lodge.
During the day, graduate student Field Instructors participating in a year-long Master of Natural Resources Program practice facilitating learning experiences as they lead groups of 10-15 participants in hands-on exploration of social and ecological communities in Ponderosa State Park. Field Instructors guide students through making observations of their environment and investigating intricate relationships between different parts of the ecosystem. Students discuss their own role in the ecosystem and consider how their decisions may impact the greater socio-ecological system
