George T. Warren Scholarship

History of George Warren Scholarship

George T. Warren was a graduate of University of Idaho College of Law and became a practicing attorney. In his later years, he experienced both sight and hearing loss. He also had a niece who became a wheelchair user in her mid-twenties. These personal experiences led him to leave an endowment to University of Idaho to assist students with certain disabilities who demonstrate financial need.

Purpose:

The George T. Warren Scholarship is awarded to help students with sensory and/or certain physical disabilities obtain a college education at the University Idaho.

Award:

Scholarships awards will be announced during the Spring 2025 semester and funds will be dispersed for the FA25-SP26 school year. The award amount is up to $5,000

Deadline:

5 p.m. Pacific time, Sunday, March 23, 2025. Email your completed application to CDAR@uidaho.edu or drop off at Center for Disability Access and Resources (CDAR), Bruce M. Pitman Center, Suite 127.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the scholarship, students must:

  • Be admitted to the University of Idaho as a degree-seeking student. Notice of George T. Warren Award does not indicate admittance.
  • Have a physical disability as covered under the terms of the trust. In general, the scholarship is awarded to students who have significant sensory impairments, orthopedic impairments requiring assistive devices, and/or systemic health conditions that substantially limit one or more major life activities.
  • Demonstrate academic ability. Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA.

Preference is Given to:

  1. Idaho residents who demonstrate need through a processed FAFSA as determined by Student Financial Aid Services.
  2. Out of state residents who demonstrate need through a processed FAFSA as determined by Student Financial Aid Services.
