How to Apply
The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) assists students who have qualifying migrant/seasonal farmwork backgrounds by providing financial and academic support services.
The overall goal of CAMP is to increase the enrollment and graduation rate of migrant/seasonal farm workers or children of such workers at institutions of higher education. To accomplish this goal, the University of Idaho seeks participants, including those who may not be typical college-bound students.
To qualify for CAMP, applicants must be a:
- U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident of the United States AND meet one of the following conditions:
- Spent a minimum of 75 days in the production of agriculture over the past 24 months of migrant/seasonal farmwork. These days can be logged by the student personally or through his or her immediate family.
- Participated in a Chapter 1 Migrant Education Program or be eligible to participate in one.
- Qualify for the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) under section 167.
In addition, applicants must be admitted to the University of Idaho and demonstrate academic and financial need.
By applying early, students ensure they are eligible for the maximum scholarship consideration at University of Idaho.
Applying to U of I CAMP Early
Submit applications to the CAMP office by the fall semester of your senior year, as recommended, but applications will be accepted year-round. If you cannot apply by the fall semester, file as soon as possible.
Applying early to University of Idaho will ensure you are considered for all available U of I scholarships.
File your FAFSA Early
By filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you may be eligible to receive federal student aid to attend the university of your choice. Amounts vary from student to student, and the main determinant is family income. Apply to the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available!
Take Your ACT or SAT
The ACT and SAT are tests students must take if they are considering college attendance. U of I will accept either the ACT or SAT exam as part of the admissions application.
Improve Your GPA
One of the single most important factors used in the admission application is your grade point average (GPA). Always be working to improve your GPA. Not only will this make your application stronger, if will make you more eligible for scholarships.
In addition to the online application, the following documents are also required:
- Signature Form for Consent
- Employer Verification or Certificate of Eligibility or WIA 167
- Confidential Recommendation - To be completed by someone who knows your educational background (teacher, or school counselor).
- Copy of FAFSA Student Aid Report
- Copy of Family Medical Insurance Card or Medicaid Card (if covered)
- Copy of 2022 Parent/Student W2s
These can be uploaded when you submit your online application. They can also be uploaded online at a later date, or emailed, faxed or mailed to the CAMP office.
