Bill was born and raised in Cincinnati,OH; was a graduate of the University of Montana with a B.S. Chemistry. He had a 24 year career as a naval officer and aviator, during which time he accumulated 6500 flight hours in 17 different aircraft models, and completed combat tours in Vietnam. Bill graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School with two master’s degrees; and after retiring from the military returned to school at the University of Idaho and graduated with a PhD in education. After graduating Bill had a 13 year career as a financial consultant with a client base of over 450 individuals and $50 million of assets under management.
Bill has served as a member of the Moscow School Board, Idaho State Charter School Commission and Idaho State Board of Education. He has also served as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) and Guardian ad Litem for foster children and a mentor in District II Veterans Treatment Court. Bill is currently serving as a member of the University of Idaho’s Operation Education veterans assistance program, and is a District 5 Representative serving on the Idaho’s House of Representatives on the Agriculture, Education and Judiciary, Rules, and Administration Committees. In his free time he raises Scottish Highlander Cattle on a 40-acre ranch in North Idaho. He is married to his wife Jo Wynne Goesling together they have six children and three grandchildren.
Bill joined the Operation Education program to assist fellow veterans to achieve a level of success in their civilian careers as they did in their military careers.
