Phase 1: Vaccinate with Confidence
Completed April 2022 — Our team has connected with local health departments, the Idaho Immunization Coalition, and major local hospitals and clinics who are working to reach the rural, Hispanic farmworker population. These providers have continued to emphasize the need for more bilingual and bicultural education efforts to decrease overall vaccine hesitancy both before and during mobile clinics.
The first phase of the EXCITE project took the form of utilizing our connections through University of Idaho Extension to spread reliable information and resources and attending local outdoor events with educational activities. Our team engaged in meaningful conversations, answered people’s questions and acted in that UI Extension role of being a trusted resource for reliable, evidence-based information. Ultimately, we engaged 1,547 Idahoans across 14 counties during our educational campaign. We continue to be part of multiple Hispanic Task Forces, keeping an eye on unmet needs regarding education and opportunities to provide additional support to health partners.
