Maintenance and Operations

The Maintenance and Operations group is comprised of approximately 40 people with diverse skills who take pride in providing facilities services which focus on the maintenance, repair, service and operations requirements of campus buildings and infrastructure. Trades shops personnel are often working behind the scenes to test and maintain life safety systems, as well as critical support equipment serving research and educational needs. Our staff is committed to ensuring the functional working condition of systems and equipment, and to maintain an attractive appearance of campus buildings.

In addition to the maintenance and care of campus buildings and infrastructure, as schedule allows, Maintenance and Operations provides a variety of support services and capabilities, including custom design, fabrication and installation of cabinetry and casework, minor room remodeling, building systems additions and alterations to support new equipment and special needs, custom metal fabrications for research and teaching projects, hazardous materials abatement, custom finishes for furnishings and program needs, card access locking systems and equipment, specialized security systems and CCTV design and installation.

The trades shops consist of the Electric Shop, HVAC/Refrigeration Shop, Structure Shop, Machine Shop, and Plumbing Shop. Workplace safety, critical systems reliability, energy conservation, preventive and predictive maintenance and deferred maintenance documentation are active programs within the Maintenance and Operations group.
