The Ins and Outs of Undergraduate Research Session
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) wants to help students find Summer Research opportunities before Spring Break. These opportunities may be in the form of REUs, internships or fellowships. The OUR itself offers Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) awards. These awards fund the students with a $5000 stipend and up to $1000 of supply funds for research to be carried out on U of I campus for 10 weeks of the summer and includes travel to a summer Undergraduate Research Conference. Applications for SURF awards are due by Feb. 15 to our@uidaho.edu. The application details can be found here. Proposals consist of a cover page with required faculty mentor’s signature, a 200-word abstract and a 3-4 page proposal that includes a detailed budget with $75 allocated for poster printing. Attendance at the OUR’s Annual Research Symposium in the following April is mandatory. At this event, students will learn about SURF awards and other summer research opportunities both on and off U of I campus.
