Fall 2020 VA Work Study Opportunities
We have two openings for VA Work Study Students through the University of Idaho Military and Veteran Services Office. One of the openings is the Disability Liaison Work Study position, working closely with the Center for Disability Access and Resources (CDAR), and the other opening is the Veterans Assistance Work Study Liaison within the Military and Veteran Services Office. Both position descriptions are available below.
The deadline to apply for either position is Friday, September 4. Interested applicants will need to download, complete, and submit the VA Work Study Application.
You will also need to submit a cover letter that indicates which position you’re applying for and list your qualities and experiences that will serve you in performing the duties described in the Position Description. It isn’t necessary to address each duty, but your cover letter should describe your potential to fulfill the overall responsibilities. Please limit the cover letters to one page.
The hours are flexible to accommodate your class times and study requirements. The wages are set and provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). VA pays Work Study Students minimum wage, but this is a tax-free benefit and not claimed as income. The University of Idaho incentivizes the return of VA Work Study Students by paying them an additional $0.50 per hour each consecutive semester that they return. As an example, a VA Work Study Student who is working for their third semester will be paid an additional $1.00 per hour.
If you are interested, please send your completed application and cover letter to veterans@uidaho.edu. The search committee will screen applications and schedule follow up, in-person interviews with the successful candidates.
Please contact veterans@uidaho.edu for more information or specific questions on the positions or hiring process.
