Wheat Characteristics under Varied Irrigation and Nitrogen

BUL1012

January 3, 2022

Determining optimum water and nitrogen requirements is critical to improve the yield and quality of wheat grown in arid and semiarid regions of the western United States. Because wheat is an important crop in Idaho and Montana, researchers conducted studies in 2016 and 2017 at two Idaho and one Montana Extension center to assess grain yields exposed to varied levels of the two nutrients. Researchers also discuss the effectiveness of two in-season crop sensors to assess the impact, Soil Plant Analysis Development (SPAD) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI).
