Break-even Analysis of Small-Scale Production of Pastured Organic Poultry
PNW0665
December 31, 2014
Data from five years of trials at Washington State University were used to compare costs and returns for pastured organic broilers using two strains of Cornish Cross meat birds, the industry standard.
This sophisticated spreadsheet tool uses the economics from five years of broiler production as outlined in PNW 665, Break-even Analysis of Small-Scale Production of Pastured Organic Poultry, as the starting point for estimating annual returns for standard and slow Cornish Cross broiler production. Users can adjust costs and quantities for both the operating and ownership costs, such as chicken tractors, in order to estimate their breakeven costs of production.
