How do growers know what to grow or what will be profitable for their operation? This publication provides benchmark estimates for farm-level costs and returns for the dryland crops typically produced in the region of eastern Washington, northern Idaho and northeastern Oregon. Those dryland crops include wheat; spring barley, peas and canola; lentils and chickpeas.
With this enterprise budget, farm owners and managers can estimate the economic impacts of different crop choices in advance, and includes consideration for crop rotation dynamics.
This publication covers the span of 2011 through 2015 and includes a comparison to 2016 prices.
