Educating leaders in natural resources for over 100 years.

The University of Idaho College of Natural Resources offers fully online graduate degrees and professional opportunities, as well as hybrid coursework opportunities for our undergraduates enrolled in Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science programs.

Our Master of Natural Resources and Master of Science in Environmental Science (non-thesis option) can both be completed fully online. These award-winning non-thesis programs include over 50 online courses in environmental and natural resources: together they attract the largest online graduate degree student body in the nation.

Many undergraduate courses are also available online. Required coursework for the B.S. in Environmental Science, for example, can be completed entirely online except for only two classes. Click here for more information on scheduling online classes.

The Associate of Science in Wildland Fuel and Fire Technology is a flexible fully online program, ideal for future, permanent and seasonal employees employed as wildland firefighters and fire suppression technicians.

We also offer opportunities for professionals to continue their education through our online and hybrid (online lectures & in person workshops) Federal Series Online Program. This includes professionals working for the federal agencies that are looking to fulfill educational requirements, that in combination with work experience, may help meet qualification standards for specific GS Professional and Scientific Positions.

Common factors for choosing online graduate education include:

  • Already having full-time employment
  • Family and community commitments
  • Seasonal commitments

What's the Cost?

Students at the University of Idaho taking online courses are charged resident tuition provided they only register for online courses (this includes 500, 599, and 600 research credits), regardless of their place of residence. Please contact Student Accounts if you have questions.

Please note, if you are not an Idaho resident, registering for an on-campus course will lead to a non-resident tuition charge for that course and other courses that semester. A web fee ($35) per credit will be charged for all online courses. Additional course fees may apply. Distance education courses offered through Engineering Outreach include an additional fee.
