Research Security Training
The CHIPS in Science Act requires training before proposal submission! Starting May 2025, a Covered Individual on a proposal must certify in the proposal that they completed Research Security Training (“RST”) within the 12 months preceding the proposal date.
- Applicability. Currently, only NSF and DOE require the training certification. But other federal agencies will eventually implement the training certification for their proposals.
- Can anyone take RST? Yes! U of I strongly encourages all individuals involved in research to take RST. But it is only required for people designated by the federal funding agency.
