Degree Roadmap

This is a 24-month cohort program, beginning in June of each year. The fall and spring semesters are delivered while students work in a clinical setting of their choice (program faculty must approve the clinical setting during the admissions process). This approach allows students to continue to work while attending school and to focus their coursework on actual clinical practice. Coursework in the DAT has 3 focus areas: current issues in clinical practice, applied research in athletic training, and clinical residency.

Hands-On Learning

Faculty and students serve the University of Idaho community by offering a “Free Injury Clinic”. This clinic allows the student to take a leading, active role in the evaluation and treatment of injuries and illnesses under direct supervision from the Athletic Training faculty members. The clinic personnel receive guidance and referrals internally from U of I Student Health and communicates cooperatively with local physicians and other health care providers. This clinic utilizes a unique model of health care and presents students with real world experience while refining clinical practice.

The Integrated Sports Medicine and Rehabilitative Therapy (ISMaRT) Clinic is in the Education Building, first floor. It has limited hours and sees walk-in patients on a first-come, first-served basis as well as those who have made appointments.
