Disability Permits and Transportation

  • Both a U of I Disability permit (Temporary or Annual) and a valid State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate are required to be displayed in all campus ADA marked spaces except after 5 p.m. on weekdays, weekends, academic breaks and on university holidays. During these times, ONLY a valid State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate is required to be displayed in ADA marked spaces.
  • In all hourly paid parking areas and posted timed spaces—at all times that payment is required or time limit is enforced—ONLY a State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate is required to be displayed, and no time restriction applies. However, it is a violation of these regulations for a current university employee or student to park in a campus meter or timed space with only a State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate in order to avoid the purchase of a university parking permit. See also APM 40.32.A.2.
  • Both a U of I Disability permit (Temporary or Annual) and a valid State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate are required to park in regular spaces in color parking lots when permits are required.

Annual Disability | $108 (2024-25)

Available for purchase online by university faculty, staff, students or frequent visitors who provide photo identification and a current state-issued disability permit or disability license plate registration. Before attempting to purchase an annual Disability permit online, please email a photo or scanned image of the photo ID and state disability permit/plate registration to parking@uidaho.edu. A U of I annual Disability permit can then be purchased by visiting aims.parking.uidaho.edu. If the state-issued disability permit is non-expiring, there will be no need to annually update state information after the initial submission. Otherwise, a new state disability placard/plate registration will need to be submitted when the original expires. Please see Guidelines for Use above. Please contact our office with questions at 208-885-6424 or parking@uidaho.edu.

Temporary Disability | Prices Vary

Available for purchase by university faculty, staff, students or visitors who provide photo identification and current registration for a state-issued Disability permit, and submit a U of I Temporary Disability permit application. The U of I Temporary Disability permit’s expiration date will be set to match that of the temporary state-issued placard. Temporary disability permits are free to holders of an annual parking permit and $1 per day for all others, not to exceed the cost of an annual disability permit. Please see Guidelines for Use above. Please contact our office with questions: 208-885-6424 or parking@uidaho.edu.

Short-Term Access | Varies

Available for purchase by those who need improved access on campus due to a short-term disability. This permit type is valid for three days in any regular colored lot space, metered space, posted timed space and valid campus walkway space. This permit is not valid in ADA marked spaces. There is a limit of one issued permit per person per year. Short-Term Access permits are free to holders of an annual parking permit and $3 for all others. If access to ADA marked spaces is necessary, or improved access parking is required for a period of longer than three days, please see Disability Permits above. Email us at parking@uidaho.edu for more information or to begin the purchase process.
